How to get there:
Zurich has an international airport from where the city is to be reached within 15 minutes only. Direct train service links Zurich Airport with the main station (dep. every 10-15 min from the very early morning until midnight).
The huge main station provides the Tourist office (044 215 40 00, free hotel reservations, www.zuerich.com, open Mon – Sat 8 am – 8.30 pm, Sun 8.30 am – 6.30; foreign currency exchange, Western Union (worldwide money transfer), post office, public phones, bicycle rental, lockers, supermarket (Migros, open daily) and restaurants, travel agency, rest rooms, showers, pharmacy, shopping, fast food and medical station “Permanence” open 7 am – 23 pm (next to the pharmacy). Taxi Zurich (toll-free at 0800 822 222).
Launderettes at Lea’s Waschhaus at Sihlfeldstrasse 88, or Express Wäscherei at Winterthurerstrasse 62.
Internet Cafés at Shop Ville (inside the train station), at Niederdorfstrasse (oposite McDonalds), or at City Backpacker/Hotel Biber (guests only).
Best souvenir shops in town are: Teddy’s souvenir shop at Limmatquai 34, Meng Cutlery at Rennweg 31 and at Poststrasse 4.
Public transportation (city): 1-hour ticket CHF 4.00; 24-hour ticket CHF 8.00.
ZurichCARD: The ZurichCARD costs CHF 19.- (valid for 24 hours) or CHF 38.- (for 72 hours). It gives you unlimited train, streetcar, bus and boat travel in the area of Zurich (incl. airport, city, Uetliberg, and even a short roundtrip (1 ½ hours) on the lake ), and free entrance to over 40 museums and more. Ask for it at the tourist office or at one of the train stations!
